Colosseum Tickets: Entry Guide for Rome's Arena
How the combined Colosseum, Forum and Palatine ticket works — and the entrance most people never use.
Every Colosseum ticket is really three tickets in one: the arena itself, plus the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill across the road. Understanding how the combination works is the difference between a rushed hour and one of the great half-days in Europe.
One ticket, three sites

The order matters
Book the Colosseum slot for the morning, then walk the Forum afterwards — the Forum has almost no shade, and afternoons there in summer are punishing.
If you have an afternoon slot instead, do the Palatine Hill first: its viewpoints over the Forum are the best free photograph in Rome.
Plan 3–4 hours for the full circuit; under two and you'll skip the Forum entirely, which is half the story.
Skip the ticket-office queue entirely
The main ticket office queue is for people buying on the day. With a QR ticket you walk to the security lanes directly. Security itself is unavoidable — it's an ancient arena with metal detectors — but it moves steadily.
Know before you go
Bring water; there are refill fountains inside the Forum, a Roman habit worth copying.
Large backpacks are refused at security — travel light.
The arena floor and underground levels are separate add-on areas; the standard route still sees every tier of the amphitheatre.
